János Négyesy: Montages
Violinist and computer artist, János Négyesy, first met Feldman in Berlin in the early 1970s, during the time Feldman lived there at the invitation of the DAAD - Deutschen Akademischen Austauschdienstes (German Academic Exchange Service). The photo, taken by Thomas Kessler, shows Feldman (right) with Négyesy in Berlin in 1971. In 1973, Négyesy recorded Feldman's Vertical Thoughts 2 with Cornelius Cardew, piano. [This recording is available on CD: Edition RZ (RZ 1010)]. Though Feldman did not know Négyesy's later computer paintings, he knew and appreciated his collages and montages from the time in Berlin.
